Digitalization has many advantages

The Trimble system is an on-board computer with GPS and a large display and offers diverse functions. This means the trucks can be utilized better and empty runs can be avoided. But this is only one side of the coin. Trimble measures over thirty criteria about how the driver drives and behaves. The drivers receive points, and when they reach a certain number of points they get a bonus at the end of the month.

150.000 Euro für einen Liter

Trimble simplifies the control of the drivers’ own tasks. They have, for example, a better overview of how many hours they have been driving. Route changes are displayed with all necessary information, and they no longer have to constantly call Scheduling.

The points incentive has also been successful. With it, Schnellecke has been able to reduce the average fuel consumption by 1.5 liters per 100 kilometers. That does not sound like much, but a savings of one liter of fuel per 100 kilometers adds up to about 150,000 euros for the entire fleet. This is where economics and ecology come together.

A part of the community with Trimble

But Trimble can do even more. Schnellecke issues the drivers a regular newsletter which informs them of any news in the company. The drivers are generally cut off from the company five days a week, but they are of course still interested in what is happening in the company. Now, the newsletter is delivered to them electronically via Trimble and they can read it in peace and quiet in the evening. This way we strengthen their feeling of being part of the company and actively bring the drivers closer to the community.

Schnellecke is one of the companies that consistently relies on digitalization, not least because of the conservation of natural resources.
