Schnellecke Digital Control Tower: real time supply chain monitoring

The Schnellecke Digital Control Tower (DCT) maps Schnellecke Logistics’ global logistics network as a digital twin. Via a central platform, all goods movements from warehousing to transport are monitored in real time. By integrating company or customer business data, the system delivers a 360 degree view of all processes, enabling precise predictions of potential disruptions.

“For our customers, it is crucial to know at any time exactly where each individual component is,” explains Denis Wirries, Head of the Group Competence Center “IoT”. “With the Digital Control Tower, we are not only ensuring classic material supply in our processes, but also monitoring processes along our value chain. This allows us to detect issues and intervene accordingly.”

Security and stability through a zero trust network

In parallel with the digitalization of logistics processes, Schnellecke Logistics is investing in secure IT infrastructure. The implementation of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) protects the company’s global systems against cyberattacks and ensures continuous availability of IT resources.

“In an increasingly digital world, the risk of cyberattacks is also growing,” says Karsten Keil, Vice President Group IT & Digitization. “The zero trust approach reduces attack surfaces and ensures that only authorized users can access exactly the applications and resources they truly need. This strengthens our cyber resilience and protects our customers.”

By using the HPE Aruba Networking SSE platform, HPE Aruba Networking is enhanced with cloud capability, as more and more resources and applications are cloud based today. SSE therefore manages cloud based network access according to strict identity and access policies.

Continuous real time monitoring detects suspicious activities at an early stage and prevents unauthorized access. “Our customers are placing ever higher demands on the efficiency and security of supply chains,” says Markus Werner, Head of the Group Competence Center “IT Infrastructure”. At the same time, the company also meets the TISAX security standard, which applies specifically to the automotive industry.

Future proof digitalization of logistics

With the combination of a protected network environment and process control using digital data, Schnellecke Logistics is consistently continuing its digital transformation. The Digital Control Tower enables agile, flexible logistics management, while the zero trust network raises IT security to a new level. By 2030, the entire network, including all employees, external partners, and IoT devices, is to be fully integrated into the new security concept.

“Our digital solutions ensure that we meet these requirements today and in the future. And we ensure that they are protected against potential cyberattacks,” says Markus Werner.
