Optimization of global supply chains with the Schnellecke Digital Control Tower and a zero-trust network

With the company's own Digital Control Tower (DCT) and the implementation of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), the company is optimizing its processes for a secure, efficient and transparent supply chain.

Schnellecke Digital Control Tower: Real-time monitoring of the supply chain

As a digital twin, the Schnellecke Digital Control Tower (DCT) maps the global logistics network of Schnellecke Logistics. All goods movements, from warehousing to transportation, are monitored in real time via a central platform. By integrating the company's or customer's own business data, the system provides a 360° view of all processes to enable precise predictions of potential disruptions.

“It is crucial for our customers to know exactly where each individual component is located at all times,” explains Denis Wirries, Head of Group Competence Center “IoT”. "The Digital Control Tower enables us to monitor processes along our value chain in addition to the classic material supply in our processes. This allows us to identify problems and intervene accordingly."

Security and stability thanks to zero-trust network

In parallel with the digitalization of logistics processes, Schnellecke Logistics is relying on a secure IT infrastructure. The implementation of a zero-trust network access (ZTNA) protects the company's global systems from cyber attacks and ensures the permanent availability of IT resources.

“In an increasingly digital world, the risk of cyberattacks is also growing,” explains Karsten Keil, Vice President Group IT & Digitization. "The Zero Trust approach minimizes attack surfaces and ensures that only authorized users access exactly the applications and resources they really need. This strengthens our cyber resilience and protects our customers."

By using the HPE Aruba Networking SSE platform, HPE Aruba Networking is complemented by the addition of cloud capability, as more and more resources and applications are cloud-based today. SSE thus controls cloud-based network access according to strict identity and access guidelines.

Continuous real-time monitoring detects suspicious activities at an early stage and prevents unauthorized access. “Our customers are placing ever higher demands on the efficiency and security of their supply chains,” says Markus Werner, Head of Group Competence Center “IT Infrastructure”. At the same time, the company complies with the TISAX security standard, which applies specifically to the automotive industry.

Future-proof digitalization of logistics

With the approach of a protected network environment and process control using digital data, Schnellecke Logistics is consistently continuing its digital transformation. The Digital Control Tower enables agile, flexible logistics management, while the zero-trust network takes IT security to a new level. By 2030, the entire network - including all employees, external partners and IoT devices - is to be fully integrated into the new security concept.

"Our digital solutions ensure that we meet these requirements today and in the future. And we ensure that they are protected against potential cyber attacks," says Markus Werner.
